PADEL POTTY: Our Founder Ross Chaplin on BBC Essex

Padel Potty: Founder of SG Padel, Ross Chaplin had the pleasure of speaking with Ben Fryer of BBC Radio Essex recently, where they covered all areas Padel, including the process that parties go through when setting up a Padel centre, or even building a court in their back garden. This includes all the preliminary stages such as planning processes, getting approval from local councils plus groundworks & feasibility. The challenges but also the potential for Padel and its recent boom as the newest and fastest growing sport are also explored.

An extract from the conversation can be seen below:

“We supply (padel) courts into the UK, we’re a distributor for a company called MejorSet, who are based in Spain which is where these courts are manufactured. We are based in Essex, but we supply courts all across the UK, so we’re putting courts into leisure clubs, tennis clubs, private investors, it’s all gone a bit potty! We’re based in Basildon, so we’re just putting two courts in at Club Kingswood in Basildon, which should be opening in about a weeks time.”

“There’s huge demand for Padel, both for players and the lack of available spaces to play and clubs to play in, and also a lack of sites across the UK where we can get Padel courts installed, there’s a real challenge to find suitable land and suitable indoor facilities for the game.”
